Anna Durai was the Chief Minister of Thamilnadu and fame of forming the first non-congress
government in Thamilnadu and also the founder of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
M G Ramachandran (MGR) was the popular South Indian film actor who later became the chief minister (1977-1987) of Tamil Nadu. He was earlier with the DMK and then formed his own party ADMK afterwards. Under MGR, ADMK won all the elections it contested in Tamil Nadu.
In memory of these two leaders, memorial park has been built near by Marina beach having samadhi of Anna and MGR. Separate entrance is given for both the samadhis but both can be visited entering one gate.
